General Questions

  • What does the Stroud Township Volunteer Fire Department do?

    We provide fire suppression, rescue services, emergency response, and fire prevention education to residents and businesses in Stroud Township and surrounding communities.

  • Is the department fully volunteer?

    Yes, we are a fully volunteer fire department made up of dedicated community members who serve and protect the area.

  • Where are you located?

    Our primary station is located at 451 Firehouse Lane, Stroudsburg, PA.


    Our secondary station is located at 1211 N. 5th Street, Stroudsburg, PA.

Volunteer Questions

  • Do I need experience to become a volunteer?

    No prior experience is required. We provide all necessary training to help you succeed.

  • What types of volunteer roles are available?

    We offer opportunities as firefighters, support personnel, and administrative volunteers.

  • When are meetings held?

    Meetings are held every Monday evening at 7:00 PM at our primary station (451 Firehouse Lane, Stroudsburg PA).

  • How do I apply to become a member?

    You can complete the application forms on our Volunteer page and submit the required documents. You may also visit the station during a meeting to get started.

  • Is there a time commitment?

    Time commitment varies, but members are encouraged to attend trainings, meetings, and respond to calls as their schedule allows.

Training Questions

  • Do I need training before joining?

    No. Training is provided after you join the department.

  • What training is required?

    Members are required to complete the Pennsylvania Fire Fighting Essentials Course and participate in ongoing training.

  • How do I register for training classes?

    You can download the Monroe County Course Registration Form from our Training page and follow the instructions provided.

  • What happens if I register for a class and do not attend?

    A $20 fine will be issued for the first offense. Additional offenses may result in suspension from future classes.

Application & Requirements

  • Do I need background checks?

    Yes, applicants must complete a criminal record check and a child abuse history clearance as part of the application process.

  • Do I need to pass a physical exam?

    Yes, applicants may be required to complete a physical examination through an approved provider.

  • Can I apply in person?

    Yes, you can visit the primary station on Monday evenings between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM for assistance with your application.
